Product Overview

Welcome to The New Generation of The Kitty Tube™

Introducing GENERATION 4!

Here at The Kitty Tube™ we are always thinking about the safety and well-being of your kitty.

With that in mind, we've taken Gen 3's vapor proof barrier and lid vent cap, and added our exclusive flow-through foam layer.

Gen 3's features + Gen 4's innovations = The driest kitty on the block!

The new features of Generation 4 include:

l 15% thicker bottom insulation than the previous model

l  Insulation is elevated off the bottom of The Kitty Tube to keep it higher off the cold ground

l  Specialized flow-through foam layer is now placed under the bottom insulation of The Kitty Tube

l  The flow through bottom layer prevents all moisture caused by condensation from ever reaching bedding

l  The new and improved drainage system eliminates moisture out of the bottom of the shelter

The Kitty Tube is Guaranteed to keep the weather out and is simply the highest quality insulated outdoor cat house on the market today!

The Kitty Tube with Straw comes with:

  • Door Awning & Clear Flap Door: The door awning improves rain/snow protection and includes a gasket to eliminate any water weepage around the edges. The clear flap door is designed to repel wind and helps to keep heat inside the Kitty Tube during cold weather seasons. The clear flap door can be installed and removed easily without tools. NOTE: The door awning set is also available for all older model Kitty Tubes with a logo. See separate listing.

  • Vent Cap & Gasket: The vent cap was created to eliminate moisture laden air that can build up under the top lid. This moisture laden air can cause condensation in certain temperature swings. The vent cap serves the same purpose as the vents on the roof of your own home that expel excessive moisture in the winter and heat in the summer. The vent cap is very important in maintaining a dry interior for your cat. NOTE: This cap is also sold separately to install on all older model Kitty Tubes and will greatly improve its performance. A 1½ inch hole is needed on the top dead center of the lid to install. If retrofitting an older Kitty Tube, a standard 1 ½” hole saw is needed to make a hole for the vent cap.
  • Main Insulation with Scratch Guard™: This insulation set will cover the walls, floor and ceiling of The Kitty Tube. The Kitty Tube Scratch Guard™ and vapor proof insulation is easy to remove and clean. The new Scratch Guard™ material on all interior surfaces is moisture proof, mold proof, mildew proof and bacteria proof. Deodorizing and sanitizing of the interior is now a breeze, as cat urine or spray from a male cat will not soak into the Scratch Guard™.  The Scratch Guard™ material will virtually eliminate damage from clawing and will considerably reduce condensation from forming in cold temperatures.
  • Ventilation Hand Hole Awnings: The Kitty Tube includes awnings that protect the handle/ventilation holes in the lid from rain and snow. These awnings also provide a comfortable handle when removing the lid or moving the Kitty Tube.

The Feral Option Kitty Tube comes with straw. Straw is the preferred bedding for feral cats as it resists moisture and retains body heat as the cats can burrow into the straw. This option is recommended by most Cat Rescue Groups.

The Kitty Tube provides a safe, economical and maintenance free shelter for your cat. Designed for outdoor use, The Kitty Tube is fully insulated to be ultra warm in the winter. The shell is partially made from post-consumer recycled milk and detergent bottles making the Kitty Tube a very green product AND The Kitty Tube is MADE IN THE USA!

The Kitty Tube has a removable top lid, is seamless in construction and is environmentally friendly due to the post consumer recycled content. The one piece construction provides for a smooth interior which is easily cleaned with a simple spray of the garden hose. The dome lid keeps your pet dry in even the heaviest of rains. The geometric shape resists wind and is naturally preferred by cats. The high quality, fully insulated Kitty Tube is strongly recommended for all outdoor cats and also creates a safe and secure haven if your cat is to give birth.

About our 1 door design: The unique door design provides easy passage for your cat, but will not allow a predator like dogs or coyotes to get to your cat.  The Kitty Tube was intentionally designed with only one door.  There are several reasons for this design:

  • With one door, the exceptionally insulated Kitty Tube will retain the majority of the heat your cat produces inside, compared to other designs with two doors that allow excessive air movement through the shelter.
  • One door will keep your cat safe and secure as predators cannot fit their head inside the unique door design of The Kitty Tube. Most small animals such as possums or raccoons are generally not a life threatening danger to your cat.
  • We feel it is a misconception to provide a second door for an escape in case of a predator attack.  If your cat leaves their safe haven of The Kitty Tube, it is now vulnerable to be caught by predators. Predators such as dogs and coyotes know how to catch a fleeing cat.
  • Most kittens born inside of a Kitty Tube are NOT moved as usual by their mother, as they feel safe inside!

Product Features and specs.

Our free roaming cat took up residence right away!

Posted by Diane Schabinger on 7th Nov 2013

We are very pleased with our new Kitty Tube outside cat shelter. An older free roaming cat recently adopted us and I was concerned about her being outside this winter. With the Kitty Tube, she is happy and so are we! She took up residence as soon as we placed it outside. Thank you for making such a wonderful product that gives us peace of mind when we can't bring another cat indoors.

A great shelter for outdoor cats!

Posted by Mary on 6th Nov 2013

My son's cat is 14 and used to live indoors, however, when the dogs arrived - he moved outside. Now that the weather is getting cold - I was worried about where he would sleep. I searced the pet stores in town, but no one has any cat houses - so I searched the internet and found many different ones - the Kitty Tube got my attention, and I couldn't be more pleased. I sprinkled some catnip on the pillow and he immediately went inside. So, each night when I feed him, I add a little more catnip. Thank you for making such a wonderful product and especially for using recycled materials. Being made in the USA is also a big plus.

    Trixi loves Kitty Tube

Posted by Ann on 4th Nov 2013

I am extremely pleased with the Kitty Tube. It came in only a few days. I assembled it and took it outside and my cat Trixi was in it before I even had it in place. She is an indoor-outdoor cat and having the Kitty Tube eliminates any worries about her being caught outside in bad weather if I'm not home. It has been less than a week and she routinely goes in and out of her new outside house, taking naps and relaxing. I recommend this product to anyone who needs to shelter their cat outdoors and have already recommended the Kitty Tube to several friends. It is light weight in spite of its superior weather-proof construction and for that reason, I have a stepping stone on top in case the wind gets to it. I do have it in a sheltered location against the SE side of my house under my kitchen garden window, nestled between foundation plants. It is virtually invisible, it blends so well with the planting. I also love that recycled materials were used. Thank you for such designing a great products for our feline family members!

    A High Quality Product

Posted by Tim Miller on 3rd Nov 2013

My Kitty Tube came in two days. It just screams quality when you unpack it. It's so easy to take apart, put together, clean, and use. Our 3 stray cats investigated it immediately - they were not afraid of it at all. I am so relieved that they are protected by the great built-in insulation, and when it gets really cold, the easy to use plug-in heating pad.

    Great home for outdoor cats

Posted by Unknown on 3rd Nov 2013

My two outdoor kittens really enjoy their Kitty Tube home. I've added a few blankets to make it extra comfortable for them now that the nights are getting colder. I ordered the Kitty Tube heater and am awaiting its arrival to see how they like the added heat once the temperatures start getting frigid. Maybe the makers of The Kitty Tube should consider adding some kind of locking mechanism to the lid. I live on the top of a mountain ridge and it can get very windy up here some times, especially in the winter and when a strong thunderstorm comes through. The other night a strong, windy rainstorm came through and in the morning I discovered that the top had blown off of the tube. Luckily my kittens weren't hurt and didn't seem to be traumatized by it, but I'm sure it may have been a little frightening for them when it happened. So now I keep a couple of bricks on top of it.

    Excellent product

Posted by Richard on 2nd Nov 2013

This is a very well-designed product. It looks good, blends in with a deck or patio environment, keeps kitty dry inside, vents well but not too much, is warm in the winter, can be cleaned easily and is reasonably priced considering its high quality.

    Great idea

Posted by Unknown on 31st Oct 2013

We have a beautiful Himalayan, that we named MeMee. Somehow she lost her home and adopted us a year ago. On that day my husband found her cornered under a car being attacked by three other cats. He rescued her and subsequently she adopted us and has thrived. She was thin, haggard and had many big burs in her fur…so once someone had loved her, and sadly for them lost her. She had been spayed and de-clawed in the front (which is not good for an outdoor cat). MeMee loves people, but unfortunately MeMee more dearly loves being outside especially when it's nice and sometimes even if it is cold she will choose to stay outside all night. We have worried about her because we live in the mountains where the weather can be bitterly cold and unpredictable. I came across the Kitty Tube on Amazon.com and immediately ordered it from www.thekittytube.com with the heater and the snuggle pad. The heater is back-ordered so I can't comment about it specifically, however the kitty tube has already more than met my expectations. It is constructed very well. The plastic is heavy, the seams are tight...we have strong winds here occasionally, so I put a heavy brick on top of it so it will not blow away. The insulation inside is thick and seems very adequate on all sides, top and bottom. There are no rough sharp edges. There are no drafts. I had a little trouble putting in the door hood, but that is only because it took a lot of force and my hands aren't that strong. I did get it in though without breaking it, which was my fear (but it was too tough for me to break). The microwavable Snuggle Pad does stay warm for a long time when properly heated according to the directions, so it can definitely provide much comfort all night long when it is cold. I had hoped the pillow was more of a softer plush microfiber, but I'm still glad I got it because it fits the bottom nicely providing an even base for the other soft and warm things I put inside that I know MeMee likes. A few weeks ago when we got the Kitty Tube we were having a cold snap that lasted about a week, (perfect timing!). Initially, I set up the inside so it was very comfortable and then picked up the cat and put her head first to the opening. She immediately went in and stayed inside for two days! I could tell she LOVED it! Since then we find her inside napping or relaxing during the day too. We always try our best to get MeMee to come in at night, but sometimes she simply will not come in. Because I have the Kitty Tube, at least I know she has a soft, warm, clean, and safe place she can sleep without being hurt or chased by a dog, other cat, or worse as we have wolves here. I have found MeMee laying on top of the pre-heated Snuggle Pad which I'm glad I have as a back -up to the heater (that is still back-ordered) as we do have power failures here. We put the Kitty Tube on our front porch, so it is protected from the sun and the rain. I have already referred a friend to get a Kitty Tube because she feeds three feral cats...she also plans to get a Kitty Tube for them before the winter sets in. Many feral cats suffer tremendously through the winter starving and freezing. Many kind people feed and water these cats but worry about proper shelter for them. This is the answer. Blessings to those who are willing to make feral cats lives a little better by providing food, water, and shelter; you who do this are true Angels. ONE SUGGESTION: If kitty Tube wants to improve this product, they should install a sensor that tells you with either a small green or red outside light if the cat is in, or out of the Kitty Tube. I would rest much better at night seeing a green light on, knowing our MeMee is safe and snuggled inside. Thank you Kitty Tube for a great product that should last my lifetime for sure!!

    Happy Kitties

Posted by Lisa on 29th Oct 2013

In the morning I would turn on the outdoor light and they would be right there to eat. Now I have to open the door then they will slowly come out of the kitty tube.

Heads & shoulders above other products on the market

Posted by Daniel F. on 29th Oct 2013

I found the Kitty Tube when searching for outside cat shelters on Amazon.com. I was generally displeased with the products offered, but the Kitty Tube was exactly what I was looking for: it's insulated, it has a small opening to keep out the elements (which features an awning), it's ventilated, and it's very, very sturdy. Our cat used it during a rainy spell, and he was able to stay completely dry on the uncovered back porch!
