The Kitty Tube™ with Straw comes with:

Door Awning & Clear Flap Door: The door awning improves rain/snow protection and includes a gasket to eliminate any water weepage around the edges. The clear flap door is designed to repel wind and helps to keep heat inside the Kitty Tube during cold weather seasons. The clear flap door can be installed and removed easily without tools. NOTE: The door awning set is also available for all older model Kitty Tubes with a logo. See separate listing.

Vent Cap & Gasket: The vent cap was created to eliminate moisture laden air that can build up under the top lid. This moisture laden air can cause condensation in certain temperature swings. The vent cap serves the same purpose as the vents on the roof of your own home that expel excessive moisture in the winter and heat in the summer. The vent cap is very important in maintaining a dry interior for your cat. NOTE: This cap is also sold separately to install on all older model Kitty Tubes and will greatly improve its performance. A 1½ inch hole is needed on the top dead center of the lid to install. If retrofitting an older Kitty Tube, a standard 1 ½” hole saw is needed to make a hole for the vent cap.

Main Insulation with Scratch Guard™: This insulation set will cover the walls, floor and ceiling of The Kitty Tube. The Kitty Tube Scratch Guard™ and vapor proof insulation is easy to remove and clean. The new Scratch Guard™ material on all interior surfaces is moisture proof, mold proof, mildew proof and bacteria proof. Deodorizing and sanitizing of the interior is now a breeze, as cat urine or spray from a male cat will not soak into the Scratch Guard™. The Scratch Guard™ material will virtually eliminate damage from clawing and will considerably reduce condensation from forming in cold temperatures.

Ventilation Hand Hole Awnings: The Kitty Tube includes awnings that protect the handle/ventilation holes in the lid from rain and snow. These awnings also provide a comfortable handle when removing the lid or moving the Kitty Tube.

The Feral Option Kitty Tube comes with straw. Straw is the preferred bedding for feral cats as it resists moisture and retains body heat as the cats can burrow into the straw. This option is recommended by most Cat Rescue Groups.

The Kitty Tube has a removable top lid, is seamless in construction and is environmentally friendly due to the post consumer recycled content. About our 1 door design: The unique door design provides easy passage for your cat, but will not allow a predator like dogs or coyotes to get to your cat. The Kitty Tube was intentionally designed with only one door. There are several reasons for this design:

With one door, the exceptionally insulated Kitty Tube will retain the majority of the heat your cat produces inside, compared to other designs with two doors that allow excessive air movement through the shelter.
One door will keep your cat safe and secure as predators cannot fit their head inside the unique door design of The Kitty Tube. Most small animals such as possums or raccoons are generally not a life threatening danger to your cat.
We feel it is a misconception to provide a second door for an escape in case of a predator attack. If your cat leaves their safe haven of The Kitty Tube, it is now vulnerable to be caught by predators. Predators such as dogs and coyotes know how to catch a fleeing cat.
Most kittens born inside of a Kitty Tube are NOT moved as usual by their mother, as they feel safe inside!

Product Features and specs.

The Kitty Tube provides an economical, safe, and secure home for up to 3 cats. (Only 2 cats if you have the double insulated option.)
The Kitty Tube comes complete with a fully insulated shell, a removable top lid, enough straw for 2 to 3 changes, a main door awning with removable clear flap door, a vent cap for the top lid, a rubber plug for the optional heater hole and 2 hand hole awnings to protect the top ventilation holes.
The Kitty Tube is fully insulated on floor, walls and roof with quality, high R value insulation. All with the Scratch Guard™.
The hand hole openings can be adjusted to supply full flow through air ventilation for the summer and can be closed for the winter.
The Kitty Tube shell is very durable with a lifetime guarantee to never chip, crack or fade.
The dimensions are 24″ round x 24″ tall with lid on.
The bottom surface of The Kitty Tube is slightly elevated off the ground and incorporates a built in channel and drainage system to eliminate any subsequent moisture that might enter The Kitty Tube due to unforeseen circumstances.

Couldn't live with just one

We originally bought one for feral Freddie who lives in our neighborhood and comes to eat. When we set it up, Chrissie, our 13 year old Manx who goes out during the day immediately went in and took a snooze. She has always hung out under our window and we had no clue she would use it but she loves it! We bought a second for our feral friend also and we are pretty sure he is using it also. This product shipped quickly with great packaging and easy to put together. We hope to buy more in the future for some friends that care for two different colonies of ferals. Thanks for such a great product!

Kitty Tube is Great.

I recently purchased the Kitty Tube with the pillow. My cat, who is banned from the house because of bathroom issues, got right into it. I just showed him the door, and he was in it the next time I looked outside. I have heated lamps and heated cat beds in my garage so I am sort of a fanatic when it comes to cats. The cat that I bought the tube for is my newest addition, and he doesn't like to be too close to the cats in the garage. I would highly recommend this product. I live in Tennessee, and it gets pretty cold here in the winter.

Well constructed outdoor cat house

I am quite happy with this cat house, and more importantly the outdoor cat uses it a lot. It is constructed of thick molded plastic and lined top, bottom, and sides with insulation. The top is easy to remove for cleaning. When the ceiling insulation is removed, the holes in the lid can be opened for ventilation. The pillow is very plush. The height is good for use as a table next to an outdoor bench or to place a plant on top. The cat did take a few days to adapt to it. This may have been because the doorway is narrow. However the narrow opening may be good to exclude predators. I helped the cat to addapt by placing the food bowl inside and gently placing the cat in with the lid off. After it got comfortable going in on its own for the food, I switched back to placing the food outside. The cat continues using it for shelter. The doorway does not have a cover to keep out drafts or keep in heat during the winter. The black color may make the house too hot for the cat during the summer if left in the sun. Placing it in shade and keeping the vent holes open should help to keep it cool in the summer. It was a good purchase to provide clean comfortable shelter for the cat.

LOVE IT

I love it - a stray kitten came to us in July and has no interest in coming in the home. I bought this in Nov and couldnt be happier. Kitty loves it and it gives me peace of mind. The box it came in was in such good condition that I am going to store some of my holiday decorations.

Best Invention Since the lightbulb!

I LOVE the Kitty Tube. More importantly, my two old feral cats do, too. They went in within five minutes of putting it out on my front porch. We have had temps. below 32* for two weeks now so they only come out to eat! I use hay over the nice cushion provided with the Tube. They seem warm and comfortable. I like the shape and the size of the Kitty tube. This summer I will put a plant on top and no one will even know it is there. (Kitty Tube note.....thanks for the review, Mary. We just wanted to let you know that Alley Cat Allies recommends straw and not hay for bedding. We should put these comments on our frequently asked questions area just to make sure customers know this! Thanks, again, Mary!)

Iowa Winter Weather Approved

I was very worried when the first thing my cat did was walk into the house, potty, and jump out. Not a great start! I washed the pillow (which went very well), but then decided to put in their regular cat bed instead. All three were then found in there the first night and every night/day since. Another perk, they love to sit and sunbathe on the warm black top. The cats love it and I have peace of mind knowing they are safe from the elements. Thank you!

Nice home for Iowa kitties

Our Kitty Tube was actually purchased for our two inside cats--but they love to go outside and do have a homemade cat house on our deck. We opened the Kitty Tube for Christmas and each cat immediately sniffed the new home and walked right in. Missy, out mama kitty, has spent the night on her new cushy pillow. We're wondering if some kind of protection over the door might be useful to keep rain/snow out. All in all, we think it's great!

I have two outside cats and even though I live in a warm climate it can get really cold at night (20-30 deg). They seem to like the tube but they don't share it. I think the opening maybe to small for the two cats to feel comfortable. It works great otherwise.

Our outdoor cat moved from his favorite spot to this house without any coaching, we had tried a couple others so I was happy he liked it. Any time I go outside now he is cuddled up in there. When I reach in to pet him I am amazed at how warm/hot it is despite it being close to freezing outside, insulation is not thick but certainly effective. It is big enough for several cats so I was worried about the temp, but not a problem at all. It came with a cute (well made) cushion. I ordered at the last minute but the company shipped it that same day so it arrived in time for Christmas, cat says thank you!

Happy feral

We trapped,neutered,and released a number of feral cats, 4 of which have remained around and we feed them daily in home made feeding stations. Since they are feral, we have no idea where they find shelter, so I thought I would try the kitty tube. It came in Sept. I filled it with only straw and waited. although it took quite some time, finally within the last few weeks, one of them is sleeping in it at night. I doubt that he will share it with any of the remaining three because they are not that chummy. We are just happy that OB (orange boy)has a warm and dry place to sleep, especially now that it is getting colder in northeastern PA.
