 The Kitty Tube™ with Straw comes with:

  • Door Awning & Clear Flap Door: The door awning improves rain/snow protection and includes a gasket to eliminate any water weepage around the edges. The clear flap door is designed to repel wind and helps to keep heat inside the Kitty Tube during cold weather seasons. The clear flap door can be installed and removed easily without tools. NOTE: The door awning set is also available for all older model Kitty Tubes with a logo. See separate listing. 

  • Vent Cap & Gasket: The vent cap was created to eliminate moisture laden air that can build up under the top lid. This moisture laden air can cause condensation in certain temperature swings. The vent cap serves the same purpose as the vents on the roof of your own home that expel excessive moisture in the winter and heat in the summer. The vent cap is very important in maintaining a dry interior for your cat. NOTE: This cap is also sold separately to install on all older model Kitty Tubes and will greatly improve its performance. A 1½ inch hole is needed on the top dead center of the lid to install. If retrofitting an older Kitty Tube, a standard 1 ½” hole saw is needed to make a hole for the vent cap.
  • Main Insulation with Scratch Guard™: This insulation set will cover the walls, floor and ceiling of The Kitty Tube. The Kitty Tube Scratch Guard™ and vapor proof insulation is easy to remove and clean. The new Scratch Guard™ material on all interior surfaces is moisture proof, mold proof, mildew proof and bacteria proof. Deodorizing and sanitizing of the interior is now a breeze, as cat urine or spray from a male cat will not soak into the Scratch Guard™.  The Scratch Guard™ material will virtually eliminate damage from clawing and will considerably reduce condensation from forming in cold temperatures.
  • Ventilation Hand Hole Awnings: The Kitty Tube includes awnings that protect the handle/ventilation holes in the lid from rain and snow. These awnings also provide a comfortable handle when removing the lid or moving the Kitty Tube.

The Feral Option Kitty Tube comes with straw. Straw is the preferred bedding for feral cats as it resists moisture and retains body heat as the cats can burrow into the straw. This option is recommended by most Cat Rescue Groups.

About our 1 door design: The unique door design provides easy passage for your cat, but will not allow a predator like dogs or coyotes to get to your cat.  The Kitty Tube was intentionally designed with only one door.  There are several reasons for this design:

  • With one door, the exceptionally insulated Kitty Tube will retain the majority of the heat your cat produces inside, compared to other designs with two doors that allow excessive air movement through the shelter.
  • One door will keep your cat safe and secure as predators cannot fit their head inside the unique door design of The Kitty Tube. Most small animals such as possums or raccoons are generally not a life threatening danger to your cat.
  • We feel it is a misconception to provide a second door for an escape in case of a predator attack.  If your cat leaves their safe haven of The Kitty Tube, it is now vulnerable to be caught by predators. Predators such as dogs and coyotes know how to catch a fleeing cat.
  • Most kittens born inside of a Kitty Tube are NOT moved as usual by their mother, as they feel safe inside!

    I worried about a TNR (trapped, neutured, returned) tortoise shell beauty who lives around my apartment complex. She is very shy but took to the kitty tube in the corner of my patio after a few days of checking it out. She sits in there and blinks at me now as if to say this is the greatest Christmas present ever. If you knew this cat you'd know how amazing it is for her to be within 10 feet of a human. Thanks for helping me make sure she can stay out of the elements this winter!

    I was so excited when the Kitty Tube arrived, as it was starting to get cold at night and my backyard cat (an abandoned pet), Huggins, seems to have been spending his nights on the roof (I can hear him at 3 am up there, and he comes down if I go into the kitchen near the door). I heard from friends nearby that a coyote had been able to get up onto the roof of their house in pursuit of a cat, so I was worried. This may be a solution. In any case, after a day or two Huggins discovered it on his own and is now enjoying napping in it for many hours during the day. Once it rained and the pillow got slightly wet on the edge that is at the opening, so I had to put it in the dryer. But I am able to position the tube so that the entrance is sheltered and the pillow stays dry. However, it means that the tube will have to remain on the deck because if it was exposed in the open it would keep getting wet. Anyway I don't think he would use it if it were down on the ground; he prefers to be up higher, on the deck. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

    Our backyard cats immediately started to sleep in the tube. It portects them nicely from the bad weather and they appear to really like their new shelter. I would highly recommend this product.

    Perfect For Outdoor Cats

    I have a home made cat house and got a couple new cats. Instead of building another one, I decided to order The Kitty Tube. I received it the other day, and the cats started using it the same day. It is very well constructed and insulated and is perfect for any outdoor cat. I can't speak for it being waterproof because it sits on a covered deck. Even though it is very well insulated and the pet pillow is soft and plush, I would like to try and find a round heating pad for it. The only thing I might change would be to change the shape from round to square. Other than that, I give it 5 out 5 stars. (Kitty Tube Response......We are so excited, because we will be getting our custom made round heating pad to offer to our customers within a couple of days! This exceptional heating pad made specifically for The Kitty Tube is unique in that is low voltage on the inside of The Kitty Tube and high voltage on the outside. This eliminates the risk of electrocution and fire inside The Kitty Tube making it the safest heating pad for your cats! Watch our web-site within a couple of days for its initial offering!     Great Outdoor Cat House

    We recently adopted a homeless Momma Cat and her two kittens. They really like the house and seem to stay pretty warm. It's pretty cold here so I've also added a special outdoor heating pad just to make sure they stay cozy. All three seem to fit well inside.

    My son was adopted my an outside cat, and I'm allergic so she has to stay that way.. with the weather getting really wet and cold, we wanted a shelter for her. When we got it, she did a 'heck no!' about going inside. We figured out it was a smell thing and pulled the pillow out and washed it and stuffed a blanket my son sleeps with in there and that's all it took. Apparently the 'new' smell was not appealing to her, but the 'little boy' smell is totally cool. Thank you so much for an awesome product.

    I don't usually write reviews, however this product is GREAT! It is everything that it claims to be. My outdoor cat loves it. She is a semi-feral cat and I haven't been able to convince her to come inside. I no longer have to worry about her safety in the cold and rain. Thanks.

    I put this up in the house to get the cat used to it, I also added some catnip for good measure, the brown cat went right it, curled up and claimed it as his and hissed at Spike when he came near it (that's the other cat). Since he liked it so much I gave him the privilege of sleeping it outside as he peed on my bed! I am not sure if he slept in it, but it certainly makes the grade for places he will choose to sleep.

    This is a very good product with high quality. My cat is immediately attracted to it. The house is spacious and much bigger than I expected. I wish you could have smaller-size options for indoor cats. Shipping was speedy, and I received it in less than a week.
